ETC | Marshall.

A recreated shot from the Marshall Headphones ad for the ETC Live Brief, featuring techniques such as cleanup, rotoscoping, matchmove and CG integration.

Final Render.

A final showcase of the ETC Live Brief, focusing on tracking with parallax and color grading to seamlessly match the CG with the live-action footage.

Bringing the rotoscoped hand from another plate proved to be a challenge—one I tackled using multiple methods of vector edge blurring and edge painting.

The project also involved precise cleanup in various parts of the backplate, removing on-set lights and other client requests, as well as incorporating 2D assets such as the sparks (screen-left).

Breakdowns.

Starting with cleanup, I tracked the footage in Syntheyes, then projected my cleanup patches onto the appropriate card geometry. With this precomped, I integrated 2D and 3D assets and rotoscoped the moving people back in.

Next, I focused on rotoscoping the paper plane with motion blur techniques across the entire shot. Finally, I regrained the footage and added artistic touches like a color grade, vignette, and screen edges to complete the shot.
